recalling saturday on a wednesday midnight
Saturday afternoon I was working on something at the dining table on my wife’s Mac, but I got a bit bored and started playing Balatro for a while. I saw Braid: Anniversary Edition was on discount, so I just downloaded it and loaded it up.
The first few puzzles were easy enough, but then the moment came where I was able to undo and it really hit me. I remember playing the Prince of Persia games back in the day where we would collect those sandboxes and rewind time, but that was always so limited. In Braid, the way they implemented the mechanic is just beautiful. Seeing the parts of the puzzle that move through time and the parts that don’t, and the design of it is really something to see. It made me realize there are groups of people who just work on creating art, and Braid itself is a total work of art. The colors and the logic are just stunning.
My wife made some chatpate while I was playing, which is a local snack that most wouldn't really relate to, but it was nice to have while I was stuck on the puzzles. The game is actually quite difficult and I couldn't figure out most of them yet, so I was just jumping around labels here and there.
I feel like I need to finish the whole game before I truly understand what is going to happen there. Other than that, the day was kind of busy with a few more rounds of Balatro and that was it.
