R&D is dead

Says who?

Says me.

Worked as applied research engineer for two years. Been told Claude writes better code than me, been told I suck at engineering and what not.

Then I realize how much of it is politics and less about sucking. I think the pressure to perform is very annoying these days, especially working on research where you are dealing with unknowns.

This dumb management thinks that the paper they read when they were on a date with their partner will fix everything. Each time invested in research is sunk cost to them and all they care about is performance. Delivery was necessary yesterday, and not today.

When will they realize that research takes a lot of failing before getting that win?

When manager says 1+1 = 2, everyone claps.

When we say, 1+1=2, we are slapped with "prove it."

I worked for dumb management where we had to lose a literal genius because they assigned a bad role to the dude.

Well, that is what happens when people don't acknowledge ingenuity. And the power of manager triumphs over everyone. I wonder how many organization went astray because of the middle-management run by folks who are replica of Homer Simpsons and Patrick Star.
